Novoyavorivsk joined the Association of local governments “Association of Open cities”

On 1 October 2015 in Kyiv was held a meeting  of Association of local governments “Association of Open cities” with Major of Novoyavorivsk Vasyl’ Muravel’ and Head  of  Local Economic Development Agency of Yavoriv district Orest Mykyta.

The leaders of 10 cities and villages from different regions of Ukraine decided to create an association of local governments that use interactive platform “Open City”. Founders and members of the Association of local governments’ Association  of open cities” were the following cities: Lutsk, Chernivtsi, Myrgorod, Pavlograd, Kuznetsovs’k, Sarny, Dolyna, Trostyanets Novoyavorivsk and   Dobrotvir .

The purpose of the Association is to meet the needs of government – members of the Association, in modern media, new technologies, investment, exchange of experience with Ukrainian and foreign partners in the field of e-governance and e-democracy.

The main tasks of the Association are promoting the introduction of new technologies of communication between local authorities and citizens; cooperation between the Association and members of NGOs in joint projects; Association members support the common interactive platform “Open City” and its development of new functions; introduction of innovative support mechanisms and the development of projects in the field of e-governance for local authorities; search and attracting donor funds for projects in the field of e-democracy and e-government in communities members of Association; development of international cooperation for the borrowing experience openness and transparency in the work of local authorities through the introduction of instruments of e-democracy and e-government.

During the meeting also adopted the Statute and elected leadership of the newly formed Association:  Major of Lutsk Mykola Romanyuk was elected by president of Association, Major of  Trostyanets Yurij Bova was elected by vice-president.

Participants of meeting appealed to all local governments of Ukraine, who are developing or planning to develop mechanisms for e-governance and e-democracy in their communities, consider joining the “Association of Open cities”.
